While I was driving this morning I heard this statement being made on the radio :
“…he passed away recently because his wife died earlier and he could not get over losing her…”
And that’s just it, isn’t it? That’s how we manage to survive the loss. Because love, it never dies, it never goes away, it never fades, so long as you hang on to it.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
And this made me think on the topic of loss and mourning of which so much has been written and said. The fact is this – we all mourn the loss of a loved one or a pet in our own unique way. Some patterns may emerge, some guidelines adhered but at the end of the day, we all grieve differently. And for some, the loss is too much. They can never get over losing a loved one with whom they have spent a lifetime.
Referred to as the ‘broken heart syndrome’ by experts.
Marcus Ringrose, husband of actress Mary Tamm died the day after her funeral of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
Another famous person who died of a broken heart is Johnny Cash, while both parents of NFL Star Doug Flutie, also died shortly after his death.
Love is such a powerful force that often gets underestimated.
Stay blessed
